Table mountain is a flat-topped mountain overlooking Cape Town and is a huge tourist attraction

It is often covered in cloud which is know as the ‘Table cloth’

The highest point is 1,086 meters (3,563 ft) above sea level

It only looks flat from one side, the overlying mountains to the south west are known as the Twelve Apostles

On Saturday 15th February I faced my fears and took a trip up to the top of Table Mountain on the cable car- here is a picture from the cable car station

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway opened in 1929. Today each car can carry 65 passengers at a time to the top

From the top of table mountain, the views are amazing and you can see across the whole city, including the beaches we went to at Camps Bay and Clifton and even Robben Island if you look out to sea.

Robben Island is now both a South African National Heritage Site as well as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is now a nature reserve full of plants and wildlife. Historically it was a high security prison where Nelson Mandela was held captive for 18 years.

On the way down from the mountain we took a video - hope you like the views!
